    Hi there,
Wondering how it is going? We did the IVF treatment in October 2009 – unsuccessful implant; frozen embryo transfer in March – unsuccessful; second IVF in May – this time it took but at 10 weeks there was no heartbeat. This Tuesday I have had the frozen embryo’s from the second IVF implanted and I’m terribly stressed. Actually feel like I am going off my mind with the waiting game so I finally plucked up the courage to chat to someone. I know everyone says just don’t stress or think about it but it’s very very difficult. How do you cope with the wating?

    Hi Diane
Sorry for the delay in replying, I know how hard it is, and yeah the waiting can sometimes be the hardest part. even though the drugs, travelling to the hospital, the cost etc etc are all difficult, and a lot of thie time can feel like groundhog day, going through the same thing every couple of months, up and down emotions, the waiting after the treatment, is so difficult. – I think people who have had fertility treatment especially if its been on going for a number of years, are so intune with your body that every pain, niggle, change, has you wondering maybe this month will be the time, And people do say not to stress and just relax, and it is so difficult, I think talking about it does help, just saying how you feel, and having the support of friends and family, it took me a while to tell my friends we were having IVF, I just wanted to be able to tell them, guess what i’m pregnant, like they had been able to do with me.

However, don’t give up we tried IVF earlier this year and it worked but my HCG levels were low and subsequently resulted in a miscarriage. It was really difficult and sad.

We took a break from it, had a holiday, then tried again in June, this time 2 frozen embryos were put back, and after a long hard struggle, im now 6 months pregnant with twins, its amazing, we’re so excited as our our friends and family. We had an early scan at 8 weeks that showed 2 healthy heartbeats, it was amazing, even the nurse and consultant had tears in their eyes, it just shows you how it touches everybody else around you. We’ve had 2 more scans and all is well, we will get another couple of scans as they like to keep a closer eye with twin pregnancies.

So don’t give up, and try not to put too much pressure on yourself, I think having a break from it helped us, just to get back to normal without thinking about my cycle, having to travel back and forth to the hospital, taking time off work etc. Just being a normal couple for a month or two again, and not having your fertility consume you.

I hope everything goes well for you.
    Annie
